Bushings & bearings FAQ
Questions, answered.
When should I use a brass bushing versus bronze?
Brass bushings suit lighter-load, corrosion-resistant and cost-sensitive applications; bronze and gunmetal are preferred for heavier loads and self-lubricating bearing duty. We can supply brass, and bronze or gunmetal on request, matched to your load and speed.
What tolerances can you hold on brass bushings?
We machine bushings to tight ID/OD tolerances, typically ±0.02 mm and closer on bearing surfaces, with controlled concentricity and surface finish for a proper fit.
Do you make flanged and split brass bushings?
Yes. We produce plain sleeve, flanged, split, spacer and guide bushings, plus thrust washers and collars, to your drawing.
Can you supply oil-impregnated or grooved bushings?
Yes. We can provide grooved and oil-retaining bushing designs, and self-lubricating bronze bushings where the application requires it.
Do you make custom bushings from a sample?
Yes. Send a sample or drawing with the shaft size and housing bore, and we'll machine the bushing to the correct fit and finish.
