Metals for current-carrying parts

Conductivity first, then machinability.

Contact resistance is set by the metal and the plating long before it is set by the geometry. See full quality & traceability →

Electrolytic Copper

C11000, maximum conductivity

Tellurium Copper

C14500, free-machining, high conductivity

Free-Cutting Brass

C36000, connector bodies & shells

Stainless Steel

Springs, locking and structural parts

How they’re made

Manufacturing process.

01

Material & conductivity selection

Copper grade chosen for the current rating, then verified against the mill certificate.

02

CNC & Swiss turning

Pins and contacts turned on sliding head machines where concentricity drives the mating fit.

03

Plating

Silver, tin, nickel or gold plating applied to the specified thickness for contact resistance and wear.

EV & E-Mobility FAQ

Questions, answered.

What EV components can you produce?

Copper connectors and terminals, connector pins including male and female, charging gun terminals, pins and sockets, charging plug components, copper contact pins and copper electrical contacts. All are drawing-based rather than catalogue parts.

Who do you normally supply in the EV supply chain?

OEMs, Tier-1 and Tier-2 suppliers, connector manufacturers, wire harness companies and global sourcing groups. Production runs under ISO 9001:2015 and IATF 16949 certified systems.

Do you make EV charging pins for CCS, NACS and Type 2 connectors?

Yes. Charging pins and contacts are produced to your drawing, so the connector standard is set by the print you send rather than by a catalogue. Send the pin geometry, plating specification and current rating and we will quote it.

What plating do you offer on EV contacts?

Silver, tin, nickel and gold flash, applied to the thickness your specification requires. Plating thickness is measured and reported, since it drives contact resistance and wear life far more than the base geometry does.

Which copper grades do you machine?

Electrolytic copper (C11000) where conductivity matters most, and tellurium copper (C14500) where the part has to be machined at volume without giving up conductivity. Brass is used for shells and bodies that do not carry current.

Are EV components produced under IATF 16949?

Yes. Jay Ashapura Precision Metals holds IATF 16949 for machined metal components, so EV and automotive parts run under an automotive quality system, with PPAP available on request.

Can you supply copper busbar and battery terminals?

Yes. Busbar terminals, battery terminals and shunt components are machined in copper to your drawing, with plating and surface treatment as specified.
